Ayurvedic Hair Fall Treatment in Chandigarh

In 25 years of clinical practice, hair fall is one of the top five complaints I hear  across every age group. Most patients have already tried everything over the counter, and none of it worked. The reason is simple: they were treating the hair. Ayurveda treats the body that grows the hair.

Why hair falls

The Ayurvedic Explanation

In classical Ayurveda, hair is considered a byproduct of bone tissue (Asthi Dhatu). This means the quality and strength of your hair is directly connected to the health of your deeper tissues  your bones, your liver, your gut, and your hormonal balance. When any of these systems is under stress, your hair reflects it first.

Vata dominant

Dry, brittle hair that breaks before it falls

Flaky, dry scalp, erratic hair loss patterns, and hair that has lost its natural lustre. Correlates strongly with chronic stress, sleep disruption, nutritional gaps, and extreme dieting.

Treatments at AClinic

Ayurvedic Therapies for Hair Fall

Depending on your assessment, your treatment plan may include one or more of the following. The specific therapies, sequence, and duration are determined only after your complete Ayurvedic assessment.

Nasya

Medicated oil administered through the nasal passages, directly nourishing the scalp and the nerve pathways connecting to the follicles. Recommended most for stress-related and Vata-dominant hair loss.

Shirodhara

A continuous stream of warm medicated oil poured over the forehead deeply calming the nervous system and reducing the Vata aggravation that drives chronic stress-linked hair fall.

Shiro Abhyangam

Medicated scalp massage that directly stimulates circulation to hair follicles, clears blockages, and nourishes the scalp tissue with herbal oils chosen for your specific hair fall pattern.

Virechana

For Pitta-dominant hair fall with hormonal or liver involvement  controlled therapeutic purgation directly addresses the root cause rather than managing the symptom.

Internal formulations

Specific rejuvenating formulations that rebuild Asthi Dhatu (bone and hair tissue) from within. Chosen based on your complete assessment not off-the-shelf supplements.

Not sure which applies to you?

Your dosha pattern decides the therapy. The assessment comes first.

Root causes

What I Investigate in Every Consultation

In my clinical experience, most persistent hair fall has an underlying systemic cause that has not yet been identified. The most common ones I investigate:

01

Hormonal imbalance

PCOS, thyroid dysfunction, post-pregnancy hormonal shifts, and perimenopause all create specific hair fall patterns requiring hormonal rebalancing not topical intervention.

02

Gut health & malabsorption

If your digestive system is not absorbing nutrients properly, your hair follicles will be among the first tissues deprived. Treating the gut often produces visible hair regrowth without any direct scalp treatment.

03

Chronic stress & Vata aggravation

Cortisol disrupts the hair growth cycle. Panchakarma therapies, particularly Nasya and Shirodhara, directly address this by calming the nervous system and reducing Vata in the head and neck region.

04

Liver overload & Pitta excess

The liver metabolizes hormones, and when overburdened, excess androgens accumulate and trigger hair follicle miniaturization. Virechana therapy is one of the most effective interventions for this pattern.

The Consultation

What a Hair Fall Consultation at AClinic Looks Like

Every consultation begins with a full Ayurvedic assessment. From this, I identify the root cause of your specific hair fall pattern and design a protocol accordingly. Two women with identical-sounding complaints may need completely different treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answered by Dr. Ajayita.

Can Ayurveda really stop hair fall?

Yes, but the timeline depends on the root cause. Stress-related and nutritional hair fall often shows visible improvement within 6-8 weeks of treatment. Hormonal and chronic patterns take 3-6 months of consistent treatment. The key is identifying the correct root cause first.

There is no single best treatment  it depends on your specific dosha pattern, root cause, and health history. Nasya and Shirodhara work best for Vata and stress-linked hair fall. Virechana works best for Pitta and hormonal patterns. Your assessment determines which applies to you.

Bhringraj, Brahmi, Amla, Ashwagandha, Shatavari, and Nagarmotha are among the most commonly used  but the right herb for you depends on your dosha pattern. Bhringraj is excellent for Pitta hair fall but can aggravate Vata if used incorrectly.

Most patients see reduced shedding within 4-6 weeks. Visible new growth typically begins between 8-12 weeks. Significant regrowth in chronic cases takes 4-6 months of consistent treatment.

Yes — and it is often more effective than conventional approaches for PCOS-related hair fall because it addresses the hormonal root cause rather than just the hair symptom.
